funny things

Okay, the first bullet point isn't all that funny. But all you mamas will feel my pain, I know!

• I washed a load of cloth diapers today and put them all on the clothesline to dry. It rained, they got soggy, the line came loose, they crashed to the ground. All the diapers are now soggy, though I managed to string them back up. Tonight I discovered that we are COMPLETELY OUT of disposable diapers. What?? How did I manage to do that?? No disposables and only a couple of cloths left?? We are in big trouble!
• Our family went to a park the other day in a nearby town. I climbed up inside the playgym with my kids. I had my own three little ones around me and there were some other children too. I must have been looking intimidating (I guess?) with my ponytail, one-year-old baby, and flowery skirt, because two little girls were coming up the steps and the one who smiled and said something to me was swiftly pulled aside and reprimanded in a loud whisper by the older one, "Watch out!! STRANGER DANGER, remember???" Wow! I have never had that happen to me before.  
• Rilla has been trying to persuade Keith to shave his facial hair. Her tactic for a while now has been to complain and tell him how poky it is. The other night, though, she tried a different approach. Having heard us talking about ticks, she told him firmly, "Daddy, you need to cut your facial hair and your head hair!! If you don't, you are going to have hundreds and hundreds of ticks living in it!!" He hasn't given in yet, although I thought it was a pretty persuasive argument!
