helping Bennett

Down syndrome seems to be closer to my heart all the time. I think God did some work on me at Christmastime this year when I was praying for a certain little boy after reading a blog that introduced me to the work of Reece's Rainbow.

I am surprised and blessed now that when I see children with Down syndrome, I no longer seem to feel nervous or awkward. I am drawn to them. I adore them. I love them. And it's not just me; it seems that the Lord is causing Keith and I both to feel more drawn to children with Down syndrome. Where that will lead, I can't say right now. But for today, I'm sharing this link to another blog that is dedicated to helping Down syndrome children find their forever families.

If you are like me and weren't thinking about Down syndrome today and weren't intending to donate until you saw the giveaway, that's okay. You can still give, and you can still pray. Pray especially for little Bennett, that he will soon be adopted by a loving family.

If you didn't click on where I posted it above, please CLICK HERE and read about Bennett and why it matters that we help him. You may not be in a position to adopt a Down syndrome child right now, but I think we can all spare five bucks and a few minutes of prayer.

Krista's post says it beautifully, but I would add just one thing. As you give, and as you think of Down syndrome children who are in baby houses and institutions where they may not get the care that they need, pray for those who are in authority over them. Pray that the Lord gives these people a genuine love for the children in their charge. Pray that the adoption process would become easier. Pray that these children will know that they are loved by God, and that they will sense His presence always. Pray that families here and elsewhere - and their own families too! - will be led to take them in and care for them unconditionally.

Thank you for taking the time to care.

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

  1. Thanks so much for posting...and you are absolutely right. Their caregivers need so much prayer as well. Thank you.
