little things

This week I took the kids to the library. When I got there, I discovered that I had completely forgotten to put shoes on Ezekiel. Just sent him out to the van in his socks. So we went into the library anyway, and then we went to the park.

Later, I got Zeke out of the van at the park (yes, just in his socks) and had him stand on the grass to wait for me while I got Rilla and Abe out. Ten seconds later, I looked up and there was Zeke at the top of the slide. And when I say top of the slide, I mean, this is one of the biggest parks I have ever taken our kids to, and there are like seven slides, and he was at the top of the tallest one. He loves slides, and he is really great at climbing up and sliding down them, all on his own... but still! It was so far away, I wasn't sure if I should even run to him... there was no way I could get there in time if he began to fall. Which of course he didn't, he just slid down like the little sliding champ that he is, got the bottom, and immediately ran back to do it again. Wow! This kid takes more risks than I am used to from the first two children!

In other non-news, sending out resumes is the pits. So is trying to re-figure out a life plan.

Winter has finally begun to give up the effort. I love spring! It was spring here for a while this week. Now it is summer. I know it's summer because after a long winter of having our room be 45 to 55 degrees at night, and still needing wool blankets even last night, all of a sudden, tonight it's so hot that it's like 75 degrees in the kids' room and they can't fall asleep.

Things I am not going to miss here: Probably shouldn't make a long list of these, but I will say this much, I will not miss the town fire whistle that goes off every.single.day at noon and 6 pm! Even if it does help me remember that it's lunch or dinner time, it is really not my favorite thing ever.
