a hope fulfilled

I'm totally new to using essential oils, but I have been really interested in them and have wanted to give them a try for a while. This fall I decided that what I really really really wanted was to try DoTerra's Family Physician Kit, with ten different kinds of essential oils. (This was slightly influenced by Josie bringing her kit along when they came to visit and me ogling it a lot of the time that she was here!)

So Keith and I talked about it and came to the conclusion that... wait for it... it was way too much money to spend on oils. (Duh!) And I sort of thought that was the end of it for a long time, but I kept thinking, oh, I wish I could try peppermint now to get rid of my headache, or I wonder if the OnGuard blend would help me with my month-long cold, or that kind of thing. And I was secretly really wanting it for Christmas. But I thought it would never happen.

But guess what????

It did!

Keith got me the essential oils kit I was wanting! And I am having so much fun trying them out!! And I am so blessed by his thoughtfulness! I know Christmas is all about Jesus and I like having Him be the focus but you know what... I also really love getting exactly what I was hoping for as a Christmas gift!!! I am still an all-American, gift-loving girl!

I was really sick to my stomach the week of Christmas, and I think the DigestZen helped a bit. My dad got a huge (I mean really huge, in his nail, way past the quick) sliver on Christmas Eve and I put frankincense on it and he was able to pull the whole thing out after a few days. I also gave Dad the OnGuard blend for Christmas and he was quite sure that it kept him from getting my terrible cold while he was here. So, I am not going to say conclusively that this stuff is life-changing. But I do think it's pretty intriguing stuff. And it definitely smells amazing!

Does anyone remember the dad from My Big Fat Greek Wedding? And how he would put Windex on everything? I am sorta angling toward that being me, only with essential oils. Once I figure out which ones are for what purpose, that is.

So! Just had to share that. Because I am still glowing about it.

  1. That is so exciting!!! I love using essential oils... I use them in my cleaning... For a general cleaning spray I put 1/4 cup dr.browners liquid castle soap, 15 drops essential oil ( currently I am using lemon but I've used tea tree, and lavender and even rosemary) and then fill with warm water... Makes a wonderful natural cleaner that's safe for the family.
