Priscilla has just finished placing a bunch of carefully illustrated sticky notes high on the wall as decoration for us grown-ups; Keith has declared it her first art show and is admiring it profusely. Abraham has been running/stomping, singing/shouting "worship Your holy name!!" and running up and down the hall. Ezekiel has been shoving bits of soft sweet potato in his mouth and saying "mmmmm" with great satisfaction. And now Keith is tickling the older kids on the couch while I take a moment to write this down.
There are moments when I am stressed about Keith not having a job and whether we can afford to buy Christmas presents. Moments when I dread all the loans it's going to take to get Keith through college. And then there are restful moments like this one, when we stop our ceaseless striving and just relax in thankfulness for all the good things that the Lord has done on our behalf.
I love my husband, I love our children, I love this good life. There are many questions as always but sometimes it is good just to rest and enjoy this good life together. Despite the heaps of clothes on the floor. Despite the unpacked boxes. Despite having been thrown up on several times in the last 24 hours by a sick baby.
God is good. He is with us. He is faithful.
I am thankful.
