eight lovely years

Can it really have been eight years already?

Eight years since the autumn when God's hand of guidance and blessing took on such a tangible form that we could not help but agree with overflowing hearts to a plan that was so utterly His.

Eight years and three weeks ago, He brought us together after years of being apart and always wondering. Eight years ago this morning, as we watched the sun rise over Calgary, Keith professed his love for me, kissed me for the first time (in that secondary segment of our relationship, that is), and asked me to be his wife.

I am still incredulous and overwhelmed at times that he married me. I was utterly in love with him then. Now I am a hundred, thousand times more in love with him. I have grown in respect for this man every day. I think I know intellectually that other women probably appreciate their husbands this much... and they are probably great husbands and all, but...

Secretly, I am convinced that I am married to the most truly honorable, godly man in the world. Not to mention the most attractive. I sometimes suspect that every woman I meet must be secretly in love with him. (Don't snicker. I'm serious.)

I hope we get to have eighty more years together.

Today we celebrate. Keith has the day off work... the first time he's taken a day off from this job... and we are going to the city for our first (and, if all is well, only) ultrasound of this newest blessing of ours. I think we have decided to find out the gender. I am so excited about this baby, and so completely, comprehensively blessed to get to share this joy and this life with this man.

  4. You are so cute!! I'm afraid that I'm not secretly in love with him, but I LOVE how in love with him you are! :-) The two of you are so blessed to have been brought together by the loving hand of the God who knows you both best!
