Keith's birthday and a chocolate logging truck

I have been the worst blogger lately. Rarely writing, and then only to share long, rambly posts with no pictures and little point. Awful, I know.

So I’ll try to make this shorter and add a picture or two.

It was Keith’s birthday today! We didn’t get to spend much of it with him because he worked from 1:00 am to 7:00 pm... seriously, those were his at-work hours... but he’s home now, fast asleep, and tomorrow we get to spend time with him because... hurray! His truck motor needs repairs and is going to be in the shop for three days. Oh glory! That means we not only get to go camping this weekend like we’d been hoping, but we can actually go for a few extra days and even have time to relax and enjoy ourselves. Hallelujah!

Keith says I’m not supposed to rejoice when he can’t work, but... I can’t help it. I’m so happy about getting to spend some time with my beloved! I have been wishing we could have a break sometime during these brief months of nice weather to actually enjoy this area a bit. I'm so excited.

Here is a glimpse of the cake that I made for Keith’s birthday. I realized as I was finishing it that probably the last thing he wanted to see after all those hours at work was, duh, a replica of his truck. Oh well. The kids and I had fun making it!

The front of it, which represented the sky-blue cab of Keith's truck, got a little goopy in my rush to finish the thing quickly. But it still looks like a logging truck, pup trailer and all, so I'm satisfied.
