Happy Fourth of July!

We went to the beach today!

Rilla has been looking forward to this all winter.

The water was pretty cold from the snow melting so late this year...
I didn't even go in past my knees...
but our little ones enjoyed playing on the shore.

You may notice that Keith and Rilla both had blue paint on their bodies.
Sometimes we do face-painting with my acrylics, and yesterday
face-painting included Rilla painting Daddy's arms.

Abraham was kind of stunned by the amount of water.
He kind of gazed at it in awe and then gazed at the kids playing in awe.
Eventually he was willing to stand in the water up to his ankles and toss some pebbles around.

Rilla loved playing in the water with her daddy.

And Keith loved playing in the water with his daughter!

Abraham is in the "I think I'll just stand here and cling to your leg, thanks" stage.

I didn't get any good pictures of all four of us eating lunch under our cute umbrella
with our cute picnic basket on the beach, but I felt pretty satisfied with our overall cuteness factor, especially when a park ranger asked if he could take our picture for the next brochure.
(I'm pretending we're the only ones of whom he's ever asked that question.)

What a lovely way to spend a Monday!!

Happy Independence Day!
