When is it too early to begin feeling nostalgic about the past?
I mean, is it okay that I am already feeling nostalgic about the day that is barely over?
Because I do.
It is finally sunny here, and it is finally summer, and the weather is lovely and nobody is sick
and we utterly enjoyed this beautiful, beautiful June day together today.
Abraham has been developing in leaps and bounds lately.
He has finally begun crawling in the last week or so, although he still slithers
when he really wants to move quickly. He is delighted by the discovery that
he can pull himself up on things. I suspect that there is no stopping him now!
Today he pulled himself up on his wagon for the first time. He wasn't the only one
who was delighted... Rilla is very excited at the prospect of getting him to push her in it!
She faithfully pushes him around in it every day, but I'm sure she'll enjoy when he
is just a little bigger and can return the favor by pushing her around too.
They really love each other.
I think Rilla was happy to find her brother trapped in a very huggable position.
He's just pretending not to like all the touching. It's a boy thing.
"I love you, Abraham!"
This is totally his whiny face.
He's pretending not to love being hugged.
The chickens keep trying to come into our house whenever the door is open.
Rilla is becoming very adept at shooing them out of the house and off the porch.
Today she used Obed, her toy chicken, to chase the chickens off.
The brown ones, Penny and Claire, are the friendliest.
Rilla takes her chicken-shooing job rather seriously.
Keith got home early today (as in, he only worked fourteen hours instead of seventeen).
This new job he's working is seriously the craziest thing!
He is trying to train Rilla to water our plants every day. We haven't had the will or the way
to rototill our completely grass-covered garden yet this year, so right now we have tomatoes,
peppers, flowers, blueberries, and raspberries growing in pots on and around our little patio.
It's good that Keith is teaching Rilla to water the plants, because I am terrible at it.
As much as I love the idea of having a garden, I'm really not a very good gardener!
Notice how Abraham is digging at the flower. Oh well.
I love these little moments.
Abraham is always most interested in playing peek-a-boo at the table when he has his hands full of spaghetti sauce. Still, I'd rather clean up sauce than sand... I've been learning that this week!
He still adores playing peek-a-boo with us.
One of my favorite moments every night is to quietly go into Rilla's room and tuck her in again.
Though tonight she was sleeping in a normal position, she is often crammed into an odd position,
like curled up on her hands and knees or far away from her blanket. I love straightening her out,
covering her up again, and giving her a kiss as she lets out a tired sigh. It just feels so
mommy-like, and so precious to be the one who gets to love her in these little ways.
Loved all of these pictures!! Seriously your kids are great....can you please take a vacation to the east coast?
