a garden for Josie

Our close extended family gathered last weekend at Keith's sister Josie's to put in a garden for her as a birthday present. I think it probably counted as Reuben's birthday present too, since he was pretty happy about not having to do it all himself! I didn't really help much... which I feel kind of bad about... but I had a good time watching everyone and taking pictures!

Ayla putting dirt in the wheelbarrow

Keith lining up the logs

hard at work on the dirt pile

Abraham discovering the dirt

really getting into it

Gavin showing his dad where to put the dirt

Abraham examining Rilla's raking job

watching Keith add more dirt

our two toddlers (!!)

Gavin figuring out how to get as dirty as possible

Abraham really, really loving this

Gavin, Rilla, and Abraham

Abraham digging while Rilla helps Auntie Morgan

so much dirt, so little time

I should have known it by the "hmm, will I get in trouble for this?" expression on his face, but this last picture was taken just before Abraham finally learned how to put things in his mouth. All these months of being able to play with beans without eating them, never feeding himself, etc culminated in the discovery that he could shove DIRT in his mouth. Fantastic.

  1. hahaha! Your last couple sentences still make me laugh! Funny funny Abraham! On another note, THANK YOU SO MUCH for being there for the 'garden party'. You may not have helped with the actual garden stuff, but your kids helped enough to count for you, too :) I just really enjoyed having everyone here!
