why I like it here, part one

I love that folks around here hunt for their food.

I love that it is normal, in rural north Idaho, to drive down the road and have this in front of you.

(That is a buck strapped to a four-wheeler in the back of a truck, if you can't tell.)

I love that we live where the deer and elk population supply healthy meat for so many families.

We didn't hunt this year. We have in the past, but the time and money costs can add up so quickly that we chose the easy way out and bought a quarter of an organically-raised beef instead.

But still. Sights like this make me grin. Another family has healthy meat on the table tonight.

  1. I am really into eating game too, although around here where the deer feed in the fields(think gmo, sprayed etc...) I find myself wondering how much better it really is:).
